FC Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt star Evan Ndicka despite recent rumours that Arsenal have agreed a deal to bring the centre-back to north London.

According to Sport1, the La Liga giants are showing ‘serious interest’ in signing Ndicka this year, with the defender’s current contract with Frankfurt set to expire at the end of this season, with CalcioMercatoWeb recently reporting that Arsenal have already agreed on a deal to sign the French star.

Regarded by many as one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga, the UEFA Champions League rock was expected to be one of the most sought after names in the January transfer window, with Barcelona now seemingly interested in signing Ndicka this month.

However, the Catalan side will face some competition in the coming months for Ndicka’s signature, with Sport1 stating that the prospect of the 23-year-old remaining in Frankfurt is still a big possibility despite strong interest and rumours from the likes of Arsenal.

Indeed, Ndicka’s ability to play with his left foot makes the Bundesliga star that more desirable. And for Arsenal, winning the race for the Frenchman would be quite the coup for Mikel Arteta’s side, who could do with some extra cover in central defence.

As we know, though, Barcelona won’t go down without a fight. And if Xavi Hernandez is able to put an offer on the table for Ndicka this month, there is every chance that the centre-back will opt for a move to the Nou Camp rather than the Emirates Stadium.

Barcelona signing Ndicka should be a real worry for Arsenal

Arteta’s transfer policy with Arsenal in the last 18 months has been nothing short of incredible, with Ndicka seemingly the next player the Basque manager is keen to add to the north London side’s growing ranks of impressive youngsters. Yet Barcelona’s interest in signing the defender should be a real worry.

As we know, Barca are not afraid to spend big on a player they believe worthy of the project even with their dismal finances the way they are. And for Arsenal, missing out on Ndicka is a realistic possibility, with Barcelona a club every name in football wants to be a part of.
