According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have made contact to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, who has been waiting for bids from Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur and Graham Potter’s Chelsea and has already turned down Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.
Arsenal move for Tottenham Hotspur-linked Weston McKennie
The Italian publication has claimed that Arsenal have made contact with the agents of McKennie, and that the Gunners could soon do something more.
Juventus could sell the USA international midfielder, who played at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, for €20-25 million (£17.57m-£21.96 million).
This report in La Gazzetta dello Sport follows claims in the Italian media that McKennie has been waiting for bids from big clubs such as Tottenham and Chelsea.
According to a report in Corriere dello Sport last week, Aston Villa and Bournemouth want to sign the 24-year-old, but the midfielder does not fancy a move to either club.
The report stated that McKennie is waiting for Tottenham, Chelsea or Borussia Dortmund to bid for him.

According to Tuttosport, Tottenham are in talks to try to bring McKennie to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the January transfer window.
Italian outlet CM had earlier claimed that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly wants his American compatriot at Stamford Bridge.
Could a January move to the Emirates Stadium happen?
In our view, Arsenal could be able to sign Weston McKennie from Juventus in the January transfer window.
The American wants a club of Tottenham and Chelsea’s stature.
And in Arsenal, he will get that.
Like Spurs and Chelsea, Arsenal are a massive club with a global following.
And they could win the Premier League title this season.
