The Sun have reported that Bayer Leverkusen want as much as £80 million in transfer fees this month to sell Hincapie.
The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte wants to sign a new central defender in the January transfer window, and that Hincapie is a player he wants to bring to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
According to Bild, Tottenham have made a €25m (£20m) verbal bid to sign the 21-year-old Ecuador international central defender.
CM reported in January that Arsenal are among the clubs keen on securing the services of the Bayer defender.
Should Arsenal pay £80m for Tottenham target Piero Hincapie?
In our view, Arsenal should not pay £80 million for Tottenham Hotspur target and Bayer Leverkusen central defender Piero Hincapie in the January transfer window.
No way.
Absolutely no way.
For that money, Arsenal could get a more established and experienced defender.
Yes, Hincapie is a very good and promising young defender, but he has been at Bayer only since 2021 and is not world class yet.
Moreover, Arsenal are well stocked in central defence and recently signed Jakub Kiwior, so there is no need for them to bring in another young player for that position, especially for £80 million.
