Patrizio Sala has told TuttoMercatoWEB that Andrea Belotti should consider quitting Torino for an ambitious project amid interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Sala, an Il Toro great, believes Belotti must weigh up leaving the Olympic Grande Torino Stadium. The striker is in the final year of his contract, and Sala believes President Urbano Cairo must offer more than just money to retain his captain.

Reports by Corriere Granata in April cited a host of suitors from around Europe for Belotti. Including Chelsea, Tottenham, Everton, West Ham, AC and Inter Milan, Napoli, Roma plus clubs from Germany and Spain. Tuttosport also claim Arsenal registered an interest in June.

Those outside of Italy have also held a constant advantage over their Serie A rivals. Torino Granata add Il Toro would rather sell Belotti to a foreign side, than the likes of Roma.

But Tuttosport note Cairo values Arsenal and Tottenham target Belotti at €34m (£29m). A figure the north London rivals could table to offer the striker the new project Sala believes is worth him considering.

“I think it’s not a question of money,” Sala said. “I would look at what the President proposes to me, what ambitions he has, what players he is signing.

“The contract can be a million more or less, but the President must show up. Not only with an economic commitment, but also indicating what the goal of Toro is.

“Belotti has not made a Europa League in six years. So I say, what we want to do? Other goals are also needed. If there are other clubs, I would go there for ambitions in any case. I hope they will keep him, but out of ambition I would leave.”

Arsenal and Tottenham can provide Belotti a new project

Belotti has been Torino’s star man since his arrival, having topped their scoring charts in five of his six seasons. But his efforts were only enough to keep Il Toro from relegation last term, finishing 17th. The Turin outfit also ended the 2019/20 campaign in only 16th place.

Arsenal and Tottenham, meanwhile, endured disastrous Premier League campaigns by their standards, missing out on Champions and Europa League football. The north London rivals could now compete for Belotti and make him a part of their rejuvenation project.

Belotti may look fondly on being a part of Arsenal or Tottenham’s path back into the top-four, as well. He has only competed in Europe once since joining Torino, but Wolves beat them in a play-off round qualifying tie. A record the 27-year-old surely wants to better.
