Arsenal are looking to promote more young talent, with Reuell Walters now securing a professional contract – years after snubbing Tottenham Hotspur.
Hale End is producing some exciting talent right now, with Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe particularly impressive under Mikel Arteta.
Charlie Patino is another wonderkid emerging through the Arsenal ranks, and young Gunners have plenty to aspire to in the Arsenal first-team setup.
Today, Arsenal have confirmed a first professional contract for defender Reuell Walters having been impressed with his progress.
Walters, 17, predominantly plays as a right back or centre back when needed and this deal caps off a pretty remarkable story.
Walters was actually in the Tottenham Hotspur ranks and was offered another two-year deal by Spurs back in 2017.
However, Walters has admitted that he decided he wasn’t enjoying football anymore and not only rejected the deal but took a break from football entirely.
Walters returned to football in 2020, joining Tottenham’s bitter North London rivals Arsenal as he looked to get back on track.

With 10 Premier League 2 appearances this season, it seems that Walters is making a real impact on Arsenal coaches.
That’s ultimately why Arsenal have decided to give Walters a professional deal, with the hope that he will become a first-team player in the coming years.
After all, Arsenal are searching for another right back to offer competition for Takehiro Tomiyasu and Walters will want to show he can be their man.
Walters took a bold decision to back away from football when Tottenham offered him a deal, but it looks like it’s all paying off for him now with Arsenal clearly rating him highly.
