The retired Gunners legend wasn’t giving an inch to their bitter North London rivals.

When it comes to the question of who the current dominant team in North London is, it’s difficult to argue against Tottenham Hotspur currently having the better of things than Arsenal.
Over the past two seasons, Spurs have finished ahead of the Gunners in the Premier League, with the Emirates Stadium outfit not even making the top four in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
This term, meanwhile, Tottenham remain very much in the hunt for the title and are in pole position for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, while Arsenal are fifth domestically and trailing 1-0 to BATE Borisov in the Europa League last 32.
There has even been talk that Arsenal and Spurs have effectively switched places in terms of who is now top dog in North London and who’s the second team, but this is a debate that would continue until the cows come home, what with neither fanbase willing to concede an inch to their bitter rivals.
Gunners legend Lee Dixon, who racked up more than 400 appearances for Arsenal and won multiple trophies including four English league titles (Transfermarkt), was asked this on BBC Radio 5 Live and needless to say, it proved a little awkward, with Chris Sutton also joining in:
Talk about being put on the spot – the retired Gunners defender described the question as “out of order” and joked that “they should sack the presenter,” before Sutton’s declaration that Spurs are top in North London was met with a reminder of the red side’s trophy count.
Up next for Spurs is a trip to Burnley in Saturday’s early Premier League kickoff, while Arsenal host BATE in the Europa League on Thursday night.
