Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal has been offered the chance to sign Ze Luis, just two years after Tottenham Hotspur decided not to secure the striker’s services, according to TEAMtalk.

TEAMtalk have reported that Ze Luis has been offered to Arsenal as a free agent.

The Gunners failed to sign a striker in the January transfer window, and now the North London club have been given the chance to bring the 31-year-old to the Emirates Stadium.

The Cape Verde international striker is a free agent at the moment following his departure from Lokomotiv Moscow by mutual consent.

The striker has held talks with clubs in Turkey, according to TEAMtalk, who have added that he has been offered to Arsenal as well.

On their part, Arsenal have yet to make a decision.

Interestingly, Ze Luis was linked with a move to Arsenal’s bitter North London rivals just two years ago.

The Daily Mail reported in January 2020 that Tottenham decided to pull out of a deal to sign the striker due to issues over a work permit.

Arsenal should ignore Ze Luis chance

In our view, Arsenal should not take up the offer to sign Ze Luis.

Now, of course, we know that the Gunners need to find a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who left for Barcelona in the January transfer window.

However, we do not think that it should be a short-term fix.

Ze Luis has not been at his best since leaving Spartak Moscow, and there is no guarantee that he would be able to hit the ground running at Arsenal.

Maybe Arsenal manager Arteta should use Gabriel Martinelli or Alexandre Lacazette as the striker down the middle.
