Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both believed to be chasing Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg – and he has been praised for his display against Juventus.

Arsenal and Tottenham chase Svanberg

Svanberg may not be a big name at the moment, but he is really making strides in Italy.

Bologna signed Svanberg from his hometown club Malmo in 2018, and he he has emerged as a fine all-round and versatile midfield.

Svanberg, 22, has played a holding midfielder, box-to-box midfielder and even out wide, performing admirably no matter the role.

Svanberg is now being linked away from Bologna. Il Resto del Carlino claimed last month that Arsenal want to sign Svanberg.

The problem is that Tottenham are now in the race. iNews claim that Tottenham are ready to make Svanberg the first signing of the Antonio Conte era.

Svanberg shines against Juventus

Bologna lost 2-0 to Juventus over the weekend but Svanberg still managed to stand out.

The Swede almost scored in the first half, coming up with a stunning bicycle kick that went just wide of the post.

Tuttomercatoweb have now discussed Svanberg’s display, rating him as Bologna’s best performer in their defeat.

TMW note that Svanberg was ‘solid’ and didn’t look out of place against elite competition – quite the opposite, thriving against Italy’s best players.

If Tottenham or Arsenal were watching Svanberg against Juve, they may well have been even more impressed.
