Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be in the race for River Plate star Enzo Fernandez, joining Aston Villa, Everton and West Ham United.

That’s according to Argentinian news outlet El Crack Deportivo, who claim that Fernandez is attracting major interest.

It’s stated that Real Madrid want to sign Fernandez, but five Premier League clubs are chasing a deal too.

Everton and West Ham have allegedly made contact about a potential deal for Fernandez, seemingly trying to get in there first.

Villa, Arsenal and Tottenham are also keen, with River facing up to losing Fernandez as well as Julian Alvarez.

Alvarez will be leaving for Manchester City and Fernandez could end up following him to the Premier League this summer.

Fernandez doesn’t quite come with the same hype as Alvarez, but has been impressing for River all the same.

La Pagina Millonaria have praised Fernandez as ‘tremendous’ for his recent performances, hailing him for creativity and dribbling.

At just 21, Fernandez appears to have a big future ahead of him – so which move would make the most sense?

Off the bat, Arsenal and Tottenham seem long shots. Fernandez is still learning at River and a jump to a traditional ‘top six’ side may be a little too early.

Everton only just have a new director of football on board in Kevin Thelwell, so major interest from them seems unlikely.

West Ham have enjoyed some success with a former River star in Manuel Lanzini, and with Alex Kral likely to head back to Spartak Moscow, the Hammers do need another midfielder.

Aston Villa wanted Alvarez and may well have stumbled across Fernandez in the process, and Steven Gerrard is thought to be keen on another midfielder.

With all that considered, we would back West Ham or Villa to be the most likely destination for Fernandez despite perceivably ‘loftier’ interest.
