Arsenal have been encouraged to make a move to sign Everton hitman Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The Gunners desperately need to freshen up their striking options in the near future, whether that’s in January or next summer.
That’s because Arsenal marksman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could potentially find himself permanently exiled over a disciplinary breach – and Alexandre Lacazette is out of contract in June.
The Everton striker is reportedly on the North Londoners’ radar.
And in October, Football London reported that the 24-year-old – rated at £60 million – was Edu’s primary target.
Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon is a big fan of the England international, whom he believes would consider the Gunners to be a step-up on the Goodison Park outfit.
He told The Daily Mail: “Would I like to see Calvert-Lewin at Arsenal? I think yes. It would be a step up for Calvert-Lewin, no disrespect to Everton. I like him, I think he’s got potential to be as good as he wants to be. He is fit and athletic, he is strong and good in the air and a good finisher. I would take him.”
Good signing?
Well, Calvert-Lewin certainly enhances Arsenal’s attack if he were to join, yes.
Under Carlo Ancelotti, the former Sheffield United attacker netted 16 Premier League goals in 33 outings last term.
This season has been an injury-ravaged one, but three goals in as many games indicates he was still as lethal under Rafael Benitez.
Arsenal are establishing a reputation for plucking some very exciting English players – like Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale – and for that reason, you can’t rule this out.
