Stan Collymore has claimed that Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United could buy Martin Odegaard or Bukayo Saka from Arsenal during the summer transfer market if they are taken over by Qatari owners, as he told CaughtOffside.
The former Premier League striker stated that Man United will be able to ‘blow most teams out of the water’ under possible Qatari ownership and he questioned ‘what’s stopping’ the third-placed side from going for that ‘next global superstar’, as he threw in the names of Arsenal’s thriving stars on the table.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are sitting at the top of the Premier League table, and come May, they might just be champions of England again – during their most recent win over Crystal Palace, Saka, after hitting a brace, was dubbed as ‘world-class’.
Whilst those at Old Trafford felt that they were in a title race this season, they will, most likely, finish third in Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge.
It’s just a case of if the former Ajax boss can add to the club’s League Cup win, with Manchester United still gunning for the Europa League and the FA Cup.
But, come the summer, the Glazers might just be out of the door in Manchester, with Sky Sports reporting that Sheikh Jassim’s Qatar group wants to take over, and if that happens, then Collymore has an outlandish transfer suggestion.
“If Manchester United end up getting taken over by ridiculously wealthy owners, there is no reason why they couldn’t look past De Jong and go after the real big hitters who are destined to become the next global superstar,” said Collymore.
“They can blow most teams out of the water now, let alone under potential Qatari ownership. If they get taken over, what’s stopping them from going in for Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard or Bukayo Saka in the summer?
“You’re not telling me Manchester United’s financial power wouldn’t at least make the Gunners, as well as the players themselves, stop and think.”

Will Man United be able to attract or buy a global superstar like Neymar if new owners come in? Without a doubt.
But will Arsenal sell them, either star boy Saka or ‘world-class’ captain Odegaard? Not a chance.
As of this moment, the Gunners are ahead of their old rivals in their project, not only that, they might be champions on top of it in May, so you’re not going to exactly celebrate that by selling two of your best players!
