Smart signing for Arsenal
If Tavares joins Arsenal this week, then he will become the first signing of the summer transfer window for the Gunners.
Tierney is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old Scotland international will be the number one player in his position at Arsenal next season and beyond.
That is not going to change.
There is no point in Arsenal spending a lot of money to find cover for Tierney at left-back.
Tavares is young and is not going to cost much.
The 21-year-old would be a very smart signing for the Gunners, who will be aiming to finish in the Premier League top four next season.
