The Out-Of-Sorts Chelsea Striker Could be on his Way out in January – Will Arsenal Be His Destination?
Robin van Persie’s goalscoring feats this calendar year have been phenomenal. But how good is Arsenal’s back-up?
Well after over a year most Gooners have almost given up that Chamakh will be consistently good, and will likely never be convinced Park should be first choice, while Bendtner has been jettisoned to Sunderland.
Come January, Wenger needs to remodel his attacking options to cover van Persie, flogging the injury-prone striker could have disastrous effects.
Just look at Benitez and Fernando Torres at Liverpool.
If Arsenal are to continue their fine form and sustain a push for fourth or better, they need one more proven striker.
Chamakh should be loaned- or sold- to another Premier League team or the highest bidder.
In his place the French manager could make a controversial move and offer £10 million for Ivorian hitman Didier Drogba.
Drogba has a near perfect scoring run against the Gunners, costing them trophies and defeats.
Now in the twilight of his Premier League career, he would embrace the challenge of playing for Arsenal and linking up with countryman Gervinho.
Since Torres arrived he has found himself pushed out of the picture at Stamford Bridge, and in turn has produced sulky and inconsistent performances.
He needs a change of scene and the Emirates could be it.
Even with the African Nations Cup in January, a deal could be thrashed out, especially if both parties are committed to the move.
Arsenal fans- would you take Drogba? Are you happy to sell Chamakh?
