Kalvin Phillips is expected to leave Manchester City in January.
That opens up the door and raises the question as to where will he go. From Newcastle United to Juventus, many teams have been mooted.
But Darren Bent admitted that he would happily sign Kalvin Phillips for Arsenal because he is a ‘very good player’, as he told talkSPORT.
Over the past two seasons, the England international has only played 897 minutes of football.
To put that into comparison, Bukayo Saka has played a remarkable 1,758 minutes of football this season alone for Arsenal.
The signs have been pretty clear that Kalvin Phillips should have left the Treble-winners a long time ago.
And even though his ‘trophy cabinet is stacked’, it’s gone too far now, with Darren Bent discussing a possible transfer to Arsenal.
Kalvin Phillips at Arsenal
“His trophy cabinet is stacked,” said Bent. “But it has to get to a point where he wants to go and play football now.
“I really enjoyed him at Leeds. I thought he was a really good player. There was even a story that Gareth Southgate nearly picked him for England when he was in the Championship.
“What top clubs does he go into and start? He doesn’t come to Arsenal and start – (But) I would take him at Arsenal.
“Declan Rice, I think, sitting is perfect for him, then you have Odegaard and who is that third one in there? I don’t think he wants to play that role. We effectively have the same problem. Arsenal and him. But I would take him.”

Arsenal should stay away from Kalvin Phillips
The 28-year-old just isn’t needed. It’s not like Arsenal can spend money for fun in January that they can bring in Phillips just like that.
Mikel Arteta has to prioritise. Key areas have to be targeted. And that defensive midfield isn’t one of them.
Arsenal have Declan Rice and Thomas Partey as a back-up. Yes, the latter is having his injury issues.
But unless Partey leaves, then there is no reason to bring in Phillips.
