The Guardian are reporting that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are planning to make a third bid for Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who impressed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp last season.

What’s the story?

Arsenal are keen on signing Ramsdale from United in the summer transfer window, according to The Guardian.

The Gunners have had two bids turned down by the Blades for the 23-year-old goalkeeper, who cost the Yorkshire club £18.5 million in transfer fees last summer, as reported by Sky Sports at the time.

Arsenal are now planning to make a third bid for the English goalkeeper.

It is likely to be the North London club’s final offer for the 23-year-old.

The Blades, who will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League, want £30 million including add-ons.

Would Aaron Ramsdale make Arsenal better?

Bernd Leno is the first-choice goalkeeper at Arsenal at the moment, but the Germany international has made costly mistakes.

Moreover, there is speculation that Leno could leave the Gunners this summer.

Ramsdale played well for United last season.

In fact, the 23-year-old was so good against Liverpool in February 2021 that manager Klopp described him as “incredible”, as quoted on YorkshireLive at the time.

Ramsdale would give Leno strong competition for the spot between the sticks at Arsenal and could actually replace him in the team.
