Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are considering using Gabriel in a swap deal with Juventus to sign Arthur Melo in the summer transfer window, according to CM.

CM have reported that Arsenal are interested in signing Brazilian midfielder Arthur from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

Italian giants Juventus reportedly want to bring in Brazilian defender Gabriel from Arsenal and want to do a swap deal.

Arsenal are now reportedly thinking about it.

Arsenal should not swap Gabriel for Arthur Melo

In our view, Arsenal should not swap Gabriel for Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo in the summer transfer window.

Gabriel – described by Arsenal Technical Director Edu as “a player of high quality” on the Gunners’ official website in September 2020 – is one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League and is a key figure at the Gunners.

Yes, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has William Saliba at his disposal now, but Gabriel – who cost the Gunners £23 million (BBC Sport) in transfer fees when they signed him from Lille in September 2020 – and Ben White are still the two main centre-backs at the Emirates Stadium.

If Arsenal are to do better than last season and finish in the Premier League top four, then they should keep Gabriel and not swap him with Arthur.
