Arsenal have finally confirmed the news that everybody was waiting for, with Mesut Ozil’s time at the club now over.

Ozil has been omitted from the Arsenal squad this season, with Mikel Arteta seemingly believing that he couldn’t make an impact for the Gunners this term.

With Ozil’s contract up at the end of the season, it looked like he would merely see out his deal and leave for free – but he has now landed himself a move away.

Ozil has secured a move to boyhood club Fenerbahce, with Arsenal confirming the move on Sunday after weeks of speculation.

The German departs after racking up 44 goals and 77 assists in 254 games for Arsenal, having made a big-money move from Real Madrid in 2013.

It all ended a little acrimoniously, but Ozil made a huge impact at Arsenal, and the club’s young playmakers no doubt looked up to him.

Catalin Cirjan is touted as a top young playmaker at Arsenal, with the Romanian 18-year-old earning huge praise from supporters earlier this season.

Cirjan took to Twitter on Sunday to thank Ozil for helping him develop at Arsenal, praising him for being such a great role model to him.
