Ryan Bertrand has decided to snub Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in favour of Leicester City, according to Goal.
What’s the story?
Goal are reporting that Arsenal have been in ‘active negotiations’ with Bertrand since January.
The Gunners want to sign the departing Southampton left-back on a free transfer.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants the 31-year-old, a Champions League winner with Chelsea in 2012, as a back-up to Kieran Tierney.
However, the Englishman has decided to join Brendan Rodgers’s Leicester instead.
Arsenal will now look for free transfers or younger options at left-back.
Blow for Arsenal
Tierney is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, and it is clear that the Scotland international will be the number one in his position at Arsenal.
However, the 24-year-old has had injury problems, especially in his first season at the Gunners.
Moreover, Arsenal cannot rely on Tierney to be on top of his game all the time.

The North London club need a capable back-up, and Bertrand would have been perfect.
The 31-year-old, who is leaving Southampton this summer, has been a success in the Premier League and is very experienced.
It will be interesting to see which left-back Arsenal now go for.
Could it be Patrick van Aanholt?
