Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign the Barcelona ace.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Barcelona ace Denis Suarez, and the Spaniard’s previous comments on Unai Emery will make for interesting reading for Gunners fans now.
The 24-year-old spoke exclusively to Uefa.com in the summer of 2015, and raved about Emery, suggesting that he is one of the best coaches in world football:
“He is one of the best coaches around. He really gets the best out of us. He considers each and every one of his players and always puts those who are in the best possible shape in his starting line-up. He always talks to you, both in good moments – to prevent you being distracted – and bad, to help you recover. The way he treats players is exceptional.”
Emery has undoubtedly improved Arsenal, since he took over at the Emirates in the summer, but there are still serious issues that the Spaniard needs to address.
Whilst Suarez would undoubtedly be a useful addition for the Gunners, it could be argued that Emery should be attempting to improve other areas of his squad.
Arsenal’s defence is undoubtedly the weakest out of all the sides currently inside the top six in the Premier League table, and the signing of at least one top class defender will be an absolute must for Emery this month.
Saurez has the ability to be a real hit at the Emirates, however, and as long as Arsenal bring in defensive reinforcements as well, it could tun out to be a successful January for the north London outfit.
