Joao Felix has reportedly asked super-agent Jorge Mendes to help him leave Atletico Madrid in January, with Arsenal one of the clubs interested in signing the Portuguese international.
According to Marca, the 22-year-old has seemed advice from his agent over how he can leave the La Liga side in the coming weeks, with Felix eager to move on from Atletico in what would be quite the shocking move from the former Benfica wonderkid.
Times are changing at Atletico with the club no longer the Spanish powerhouses they have been under Diego Simeone over the past decade, with Los Colchoneros facing the real threat of dropping down into the UEFA Europa League following a disastrous UEFA Champions League campaign.
With form in the league also mixed, it’s no wonder why Felix is keen to leave Atletico, with the attacker yet to really hit his potential following his blockbuster £113m move to Spain back in 2019. And Arsenal could now pounce for the youngster after this latest update.

El Chiringuito previously reported that Arsenal were keen on Felix in the summer, with Manchester United also on the Portuguese international’s tail. And now, both Premier League clubs do battle in the January window for the 22-year-old, who would be quite the signing.
Indeed, adding Felix would be quite the move for Arsenal given their already incredibly young squad. However, whilst the Atletico star is a world-class player, fitting him into Mikel Arteta’s system would be quite the challenge given how well everything seems to be going for the Basque coach this season.
Felix might be short of options if he is to leave Atletico in January

Felix is no doubt one of the best players in La Liga and a talent who still has the potential to become one of the best in the world. However, given the current state of the market and how much Atletico will likely want for their superstar attacker, the youngster leaving in January is easier said than done.
After all, Arsenal are unlikely to invest heavily in a player they hardly need, and with United coming off the back of an incredibly expensive summer, options may already be short for Felix if the youngster is to leave Madrid in the January transfer window.
