The PSG youngster has been linked with a move to Roma and the Gunners, after being demoted to the PSG reserves.
PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot has responded to criticism some in the French media have thrown at him by posting a message on Instagram in an apparent effort to set the message straight.
Some had questioned whether the youngster, who was eager to quit the French champions this summer, was leaving PSG because he didn’t think he was able to break into the team past the existing midfield options.
His message read: “Those who criticize you or are jealous are often those that want you to be different, because they see in you what they will never be .. Good Sunday to you”
“It’s not true that I fear the competition at PSG,” he had earlier told Canal+.
“Look at the other midfielders at Roma. There is competition there, too. Roma are a big club with a nice project and they are now playing in the Champions League.”
Rabiot revealed that he was close to joining Roma in the summer transfer window, only for the deal to collapse at the last minute. His desire to depart Paris has seemingly left him outside of manager Laurent Blanc’s plans, with the midfielder yet to make a first team appearance and only playing for the reserves, despite making 34 appearances last season.
“I don’t know if I will play again for PSG. It was not my choice to play for the reserve team team but it’s a pleasure to play football, even training and playing in the fourth tier.
“I’m available to the coach [Laurent Blanc] and he’ll decide. We speak very often and he told me that he would love this situation to be resolved.”
With Arsenal reportedly continuing to hold a heavy interest in the France Under-21 star, his failure to secure a move to Rome could see Arsene Wenger return to cherry pick another talented French youngster from Ligue 1. Given that Rabiot’s contract, like fellow target Sami Khedira, ends in the summer, he will be available either to sign a pre-contract agreement or at a discount price.
“We just have to will wait until January to see what we can do,” the 19-year-old admitted.
