Arsenal may fancy bringing Roma striker Tammy Abraham to North London but they will face a huge £67million outlay to get a deal done.

The Daily Star reported over the weekend that Arsenal were keen to sign Abraham to bolster their attacking options this summer.

Football London back up those claims, suggesting that Abraham is indeed on their radar for a summer move.

Both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract this summer so look set to leave the club.

That means two strikers are wanted and Arsenal have identified Abraham as a player who can come in.

That report does though claim that Roma are demanding €80million (£67million) for Abraham this summer.

Chelsea’s buyback clause in the Abraham deal stands at £67million, so Roma are unwilling to sell for any less to another club.

Abraham, 24, has been loving life in Italy. 24 goals in all competitions for Roma is a great return and a place in England’s World Cup squad may beckon.

You can understand why Arsenal would think that Abraham can be the striker they need, but a £67million deal wouldn’t be the best look.

Abraham grew up supporting Arsenal and, according to The Athletic, was desperate to sign for the Gunners last summer.

Abraham allegedly went as far as telling Chelsea teammates that he wanted to join Arsenal.

Arsenal didn’t push for a deal though and Roma were able to swoop in and sign Abraham for just £34million.

That means the striker’s price tag has almost doubled in less than a year.

Abraham would surely still want to sign for Arsenal, but the Gunners maybe should have pulled the trigger last summer.

Now facing a hefty bill, Arsenal may find that other strikers come at a more reasonable price this summer.

Chelsea may even want to get involved and activate that buyback clause – a prospect that will hang over Arsenal if they do move for Abraham.
