Arsenal have been linked with Tammy Abraham this season and Jose Mourinho has admitted having doubts about the Roma striker.

The Gunners seem to be linked with Abraham on a fairly regular basis at this point.

A boyhood Arsenal fan, Abraham was linked over the summer before Gabriel Jesus made his move from Manchester City.

Tuttomercatoweb reported in November that Arsenal still admire Abraham and could move for him after he was booed by Roma fans.

CalcioMercato added that Abraham was an option for Arsenal in January as they considered a striker signing after an injury to Jesus.

Abraham may well remain on the Arsenal radar for a while yet, and they may be impressed with his recent displays.

Jose Mourinho ‘had a few doubts’ about Arsenal-linked Tammy Abraham

Abraham was on the scoresheet on Saturday as Roma scored twice in the first six minutes to beat Empoli 2-0.

This continued Roma’s strong season as Mourinho’s men sit third and are chasing a Champions League return.

That’s now three goals and two assists in eight games since the turn of the year for Abraham.

Abraham has blown hot and cold this term and went through a barren spell of eight games without a goal at one point.

That meant Abraham missed out on a spot in England’s World Cup squad and has had to dig deep to get back on track.

Roma boss Mourinho has now been quoted by Football Italia as saying that he had doubts about Abraham earlier this season.

Mourinho was worried about Abraham’s mental state rather than his footballing ability, noting that he had a ‘difficult period’.

Mourinho now feels Abraham is back to his best, contributing so much even when he’s not scoring.

“There was a short period this season when I had a few doubts about Abraham,” said Mourinho. “Not about his qualities as a player, but about him, he had a difficult period. Now, however, if he doesn’t score a goal, then he still gives an important contribution.”

“He did everything perfectly in the second half, holding the ball up, helping in defence, interacting very well with Paulo [Dybala]. It’s a positive moment for him,” he added.
