Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told the club’s official website that Takehiro Tomiyasu was desperate to play against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool last week.
Arteta has said that Arsenal right-back Tomiyasu is injured now and will be on the sidelines for a couple of weeks.
The Arsenal boss has said that the 23-year-old Japan international right-back played against Liverpool in the second leg of the Carabao Cup tie last week.
Tomiyasu, who cost Arsenal £15.5m million in transfer fees (The Guardian), did not play in the goalless draw with Burnley at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.
Arteta told Arsenal’s official website about Tomiyasu: “Well, Tomiyasu had an injury and we didn’t have anybody to play in that position against Liverpool.
“He really wanted to push, he tried and he played the 90 minutes, and he felt it again. So he will be out for a couple of weeks.”
Takehiro Tomiyasu is so committed for Arsenal
In our view, Arteta’s comments on Tomiyasu show just how committed the Arsenal right-back is.
The youngster, who can also play as a centre-back, could have easily not played against Liverpool.

That would have probably prevented Tomiyasu from suffering the injury again.
However, Tomiyasu took that risk, and we have to praise the former Bologna defender.
The right-back has been superb for Arsenal so far this season, having joined from Bologna in the summer of 2021.
The Arsenal no. 18 has provided one assist in 16 Premier League appearances so far this season.
