Arsenal fans are upset after hearing about Andrea Berta’s latest transfer plans.

The 54-year-old Italian has done a great job since coming in to replace Edu Gaspar as the sporting director at the Emirates Stadium.

Given the significant backing he has received, Mikel Arteta’s primary goal this year is securing the Premier League title.

Berta, on the other hand, is already planning for next season.

It has been reported that Arsenal are favourites to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.

And the Premier League leaders would be willing to pay between £75 million and £80 million for the 25-year-old winger, which has left many fans bothered.

Gordon is a talented player, but a lot of Arsenal supporters are not sure he is the right fit for what the team needs right now.

There has been strong backlash online, with some even suggesting that Berta should lose his job if the deal happens.

One fan took to X and posted: “If Arsenal are looking to sign Gordon, they need to sack Berta.”

Another wrote: “Sack Berta, what am I looking at?”

A different user added: “Sack Andrea Berta and Arteta if this transfer materialises. They’re not serious.”

The complaints did not stop there. One fan said: “Arteta’s talent ID is so bad. Why do we need Martinelli 2.0 when the version we have is actually better than him?”

And another echoed similar frustration: “Gordon to Arsenal after signing Noni Madueke would literally put Andrea Berta on Edu’s talent ID level. Wake up Berta! There are better players out there.”

Anthony Gordon is not the solution Arsenal need

Gordon is a talented player, no question.

The Newcastle forward has England caps, real speed, good ball control, and he knows the Premier League inside out.

Still, if Arsenal are looking to move on from Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard, it feels like they should be aiming for something higher.

While Gordon brings plenty to the table, it is hard to argue he is a clear step above either of the current left-wing options.

That kind of money could go further elsewhere. Kenan Yildiz is a name that comes to mind as a more promising investment.
