Arsenal striker to reveal decision after Euro 2012

Sadly for Arsenal it is Nicklas Bendtner, not Robin van Persie

If Nicklas Bendtner thought Arsenal fans were biting their nails to find out his next move, he would be half right.

Fans are keen to get his future resolved, mainly to get shot of him.

The club could not find a buyer for him, and he went from aiming for Roma and Sporting Lisbon, to a deadline day loan to Sunderland instead.

This year his agent has started the speculation high again, with a suggested move to Borussia Dortmund last week.

If his fortunes follow a similar route this summer, a free transfer to West Ham on deadline day beckons.

Bendtner is clearly hoping to take control of his own destiny with a super showing at Euro 2012.

He will have his work cut out, Denmark have the longest odds of all the teams this summer, and share a group with Holland, Portugal and Germany.

He told Talksport: ‘I have told all the clubs that I want to wait until after Euro 2012. ‘We have got plenty of time to sort out the future.’

Still, aim for the sky and you might just touch the ceiling, as they say, and the man we have dubbed the Samantha Brick of football is not short of self-confidence.

Arsenal will hope he can find a move, but if it came down to it, him staying would not be the worst thing in the world so long as the club can off-load the far worse Marouane Chamakh.

If Robin van Persie, the striker Arsenal fans genuinely want to keep, leaves, we can just see Bendtner declaring himself the answer to Wenger’s problems.

Fans will pray it does not come down to that.
