Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has suggested Sunderland will win this evening’s Capital One Cup match against Manchester United.
It was all looking good for Manchester United, and then Tottenham Hotspur came to town.
After Spurs’ 2-1 Premier League win came Swansea City’s last-gasp FA Cup victory, leaving this evening’s Capital One Cup semi-final first-leg against Sunderland if not a must-win then certainly a must-not-lose.
United’s first-half performance has been less than impressive, with the Black Cats more than holding their own against David Moyes’ men and scoring late in the first half. As a result, those fans and pundits tipping United’s woes to continue may be proved right.
And players have also been getting in on the action, with Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere tipping Sunderland to continue Moyes’ misery.
Tweeting prior to the match, the England international expressed his disappointment that the Gunners were no longer involved in the competition, before suggesting Gus Poyet’s men could snatch the victory.
Whether or not he will be proved right will be revealed in due course…
