England got their World Cup campaign off to a flyer on Monday afternoon and Arsenal star Bukayo Saka was the star of the show, scoring two goals in a 6-2 win – and has had some fun with Jack Grealish on Instagram after the match.
It was a stunning performance from England. Iran held out for the first part of the match. But that changed when Jude Bellingham headed in a Luke Shaw cross. The shackles were off, and Saka made it 2-0 from a Harry Maguire header.
A lovely finish, before the tried-and-trusted combination of Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling saw the latter nab a third for England. It was Saka who netted a fourth – before Grealish and Marcus Rashford scored goals from the sub’s bench.
Despite Porto striker Mehdi Taremi netting a brace, it was a brilliant win for England the morale will be sky high. Indeed, Saka teased Grealish on Instagram, using the crying filter and taking a picture of the Manchester City attacker.

Compared to previous World Cups, getting that first win with such a performance will do wonders for England. It takes all the pressure off the players going into Friday’s outing against USA. A game which will be harder than playing Iran.
Carlos Quieroz’s side were expected to be defensively solid – given the manager’s renowned style, from his time at Manchester United as assistant manager. But England picked them off. USA will probably pose a different challenge.
They will look to press England, and challenge England’s weakest area of the pitch – centre-back. England still let two goals in against Iran despite dominating the game and Southgate will need to look at that. USA drew 1-1 with Wales.
Timo Weah’s opening goal was cancelled out late on by a Gareth Bale penalty, sending the Welsh fans into raptures. What England’s win, and that draw does, is place England in a very, very strong position in Group B.
