Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney has said that he did not expect to play the entire 90 minutes against Manchester City, as quoted on BBC Sport.

Tierney started for Arsenal in the Premier League game against City at the Emirates Stadium in North London and played for the entire 90 minutes.

The left-back was partly at fault for the goal that Raheem Sterling scored in the opening minutes of the game, but the former Celtic star recovered thereafter.

The Scotland international is just coming back from injury, and the 23-year-old has admitted that he expected to be taken off at some point.

BBC Sport quotes Tierney as saying: “I wasn’t sure if I would get the full game but it’s 90 minutes and I’m happy the manager gave me the chance again.”

How did Kieran Tierney play against Manchester City?

Tierney has been one of the best players for Arsenal so far this season, but against City, the left-back struggled, especially in the first half.

Riyad Mahrez was superb down his side, and the former Celtic ace had to track back a lot.

Things did improve in the second half, and the Arsenal left-back was able to go on attacking forays and link up with the attacking players.

According to WhoScored, the left-back took one shot which was on target, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 83.3%, won one header, took 63 touches, attempted one dribble, made two clearances, and put in nine crosses.
