It has not been the easiest of transitions to English football for Lucas Perez but the frontman insists he will get the chance to prove his worth.

Arsenal striker Lucas Perez has revealed to the International Business Times, as quoted by the Mirror, that he has the trust of Arsene Wenger after impressing off the bench against Ludogorets on Wednesday.

The Gunners fought off interest from Everton and Leicester City to bring the hard-working forward to the Emirates from Deportivo after a prolific breakthrough season in La Liga last term, but the exceptional form of Alexis Sanchez (below) and Theo Walcott has restricted him to just four appearances in all competitions so far.

However, Lucas made his mark against in Arsenal’s 6-0 thrashing of Bulgarian champions Ludogorets in the Champions League in midweek, displaying the intelligent movement and unselfish approach work that caught the eye of Wenger by delivering two assists off the bench.

And the 28-year-old, who was subjected to intense scrutiny after a nervy debut performance against Southampton last month, says the Frenchman has assured him that he will get more opportunities to prove that he warranted his £17.1 million price tag, as reported by the BBC.

“The coach told me to be quiet because he trusts in me,” Lucas said, via the Mirror. “He says that he has been following me for a long time and that he likes me so I have to be patient.

“He said that opportunities will come and today he has proved it. He is a good guy and is always there to help us.

“When I came to Arsenal I knew where I was coming. I know there are great players here. I have to wait for the opportunity. Everyone wants to play, but the important thing is the team and we have won seven games in a row.”

Arsenal turned to Lucas after missing out on top target Jamie Vardy in the summer, though the Spaniard’s high-pressing approach and trademark darting runs in behind opposition defensive have drawn plenty of comparisons with the Premier League winner (below).
