Since Aaron Ramsdale’s arrival at Arsenal last summer, he has instantly established his reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.
At the time when the Gunners were speculated with making a move for the-then Bournemouth man, there were no shortage of critics about the club’s interest, as they failed to understand how he would adapt to Mikel Arteta’s style of play.
Ironically enough, it is the 24-year old’s inch-perfect distribution, pass selection and abilities as a sweeper-keeper, which has made him such a significant upgrade on Bernd Leno.
And some feared whether Ramsdale could replicate Leno’s brilliant shotstopping, he has done that and more, arguably pulling off the save of the Premier League last term by miraculously ensuring James Maddison’s free-kick does not ripple the net.
Callum Wilson, who has come up against the England international on several occasions heaped praise on his fellow countryman.
“I think Ramsdale, I’ve come up against and he’s been inspired in a few matches. He’s played well”, he said on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, alongside Michail Antonio.

It is unsurprising that fellow professionals are lauding the former Sheffield United goalkeeper, who has made such a sizeable impression during such a short spell at the Emirates Stadium.
One of the prime reasons why Arsenal’s defensive record improved last term was not only due to Ramsdale’s shotstopping abilities, but also because he can virtually play outside the box, which allowed Arteta to implement his style to the very core.
The Englishman is the blueprint of the modern goalkeeper and at just 23 years old, he is only likely to get better and better as the years roll on.
Strikers across the Premier League will only find it a challenge to play against a goalkeeper that constantly finds a way to tick new boxes in his game.
