Arsenal star responds to criticism with hard work.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has indirectly addressed his latest smoking controversy, responding with a video of his hard work battling to recover his fitness.

Attached to his Instagram post was the following message of response:

“Worry about your character not your reputation, because your character is who you are and your reputation is only what people who don’t know you think about you! Great session today.”

Wilshere has been reprimanded twice publicly for smoking by manager Arsene Wenger, the Frenchman previously described it as unacceptable, quoted by The Guardian.

The Independent reported today that the manager has taken a dim view after the England midfielder was pictured in a bar holding a shisha pipe.

While Wenger will no doubt face a barrage of questions from reporters at his Friday press conference about the incident, Wilshere has attempted to deflect the issue by presenting an example of his professionalism.

Teammate Wojciech Szczesny was fined £20,000, the Mirror reported earlier this month after being caught smoking by staff after the Premier League defeat to Southampton.

Wilshere is currently out of action, although Wenger confirmed via the club’s website today that he is due to return to full training with the squad next week.
