Rob Holding has taken to Instagram to issue a four-word request of Arsenal fans ahead of Saturday’s North London derby with Tottenham, urging Gunners fans to get The Emirates bouncing ahead of a crucial Premier League clash.
At this early stage in the Premier League season, Saturday’s clash between the two sides will lay down a marker. Arsenal sit top with 18 points from 21, while Tottenham remain unbeaten, but a point behind Mikel Arteta’s side.
Of course, the rivalry between the two sides is already enormous. But there is the added incentive of revenge from Arsenal’s side. They were beaten to fourth place in the Premier League, and Champions League football, by Spurs.
The two sides played out a controversial 3-0 Spurs win last time out, in which Holding himself was sent off in the first half. Ahead of Saturday’s clash, in which Holding is unlikely to start, the defender sent a message to fans on Instagram.
Holding issues request to Arsenal fans ahead of Tottenham derby
Who is going to win? It seems like an impossible one to call. Tottenham are not firing on all cylinders just yet, but are close to what many perceive to be their best. Son Heung-min is back on fire, after a hat-trick against Leicester.
Indeed, Son continued his form during the international break, scoring in friendlies for South Korea against Costa Rica and Cameroon. Arsenal, meanwhile, may have benefited from Gabriel Jesus missing out on Brazil’s side last week.
The Gunners are in excellent form and with home advantage, one would predict that Arteta’s side have a slight advantage. But anything can happen on the day, not least because the rivalry is somewhat of an equaliser.
It might come down to whether the likes of Son, Harry Kane, Jesus, Martin Odegaard or one of the attacking stars can produce a bit of magic. Holding might have to watch from the sidelines.
