Both Rice and Maguire are big figures in the current England set-up.
While Rice, who can also play as a defender, is a regular in the England midfield, Maguire is a consistent figure at the back for Gareth Southgate’s side even though he is not getting much playing time at Manchester United.
When asked to describe the former Leicester City star on England TikTok in one word, Rice said: “Beast”.
Maguire linked with summer move to the Hammers
Interestingly, Maguire was linked with Rice’s former club West Ham United in the summer transfer window.
And the £200,000-a-week (SalarySport) defender could have actually made the switch from Old Trafford to London Stadium.
Sky Sports reported on August 18 that West Ham had agreed a £30 million deal with Manchester United for Maguire.
However, the defender decided to stay with the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners.
The Guardian reported on August 15 that Maguire had actually agreed personal terms with the Hammers, who were willing to pay the Red Devils £30 million for the defender.
However, the England international could not agree on a payoff with Manchester United and did not make the move to London Stadium in the end.
Despite Rice’s praise for Maguire, it is hard to see Erik ten Hag make much of him in his Manchester United team this season.
The 30-year-old has played 23 minutes in the Premier League so far this season.
The defender made eight starts and eight substitute appearances in the Premier League last season.
