Arsenal defender Calum Chambers was linked with a shock move to Tottenham this week by The Mail,.
Joining Spurs may seem like a nigh on impossible move for an Arsenal player to take, but there is one key factor at play; Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino worked with Chambers at Southampton, handing him his debut as a teenager. The Argentine’s exit made Chambers susceptible to a move, with Arsenal taking advantage.

Chambers was ready to acknowledge Pochettino’s role in his development, telling the Daily Echo in 2014 that he owed him everything.
He said: “Everything. He gave me my chance and I can’t thank him enough for that.
“He has given a lot of youngsters the opportunity and he is a fantastic manager for us.”
Making a move to Tottenham is a big ask for such a young talent who belongs to Arsenal, and Chambers may decide it is a move he cannot even bring himself to consider.
But if there is one person who can convince him to make the biggest decision of his career then Pochettino has a chance.
Chambers is young and talented, and Pochettino’s track record of developing young players could help him reach his potential.
Arsene Wenger has been unable to bring him on at Arsenal, essentially giving up on him last summer to send him out on loan.
Chambers has benefitted from lpaying regularly at Middlesbrough, but if Wenger cannot offer him what he needs in order to continue this next season, a move away from the club makes sense – even if Tottenham represents the toughest of all possible options.
