Everton boss Ronald Koeman is going to need a successor to Leighton Baines in the coming years.
According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Arsenal have nearly halved their asking price for Kieran Gibbs – and that should put the defender on Everton’s radar.
Prior to the start of the summer transfer window, Arsenal were looking for £15 million for Gibbs – according to the Mirror.
However, the Gunners have seen a lack of interest, and have slashed their valuation of the 27-year-old.
Everton should now consider making a move for Gibbs, as he could potentially be a long-term replacement for Leighton Baines.
Gibbs possesses a lot of quality in attacking areas, and although Arsenal seem to have deemed him surplus to requirements, he is a proven Premier League talent.
Gibbs would add experience to Everton’s back line, and with Baines reaching the twilight stage of his career, he could break into Ronald Koeman’s starting line-up sooner rather than later.
At £8 million, Gibbs is a cheap option in a market which appears to be very expensive this summer.
And Everton should seriously consider adding the England international, as they look to strengthen their squad in the coming weeks.
