Arsenal may miss out on Serge Gnabry as the Bayern Munich winger is now moving closer and closer to a new contract.

The Gunners have been in the market for a new winger this summer but have missed out on signing Raphinha.

Barcelona have won the race for the Leeds United man and that leaves Arsenal going back to the drawing board.

You would think Arsenal would wait until a firm decision has emerged on Nicolas Pepe’s future before trying to sign another big-money winger.

Yet it looks like Arsenal are very much keen on adding another wide threat even with Raphinha off the market.

Arsenal may miss out on Serge Gnabry

Another name in the frame is Bayern Munich ace Gnabry, with transfer insider Dean Jones claiming that the German is on Arsenal’s wish list.

Gnabry is no stranger to Arsenal having joined the club from Stuttgart back in 2011.

Gnabry showed promise in the Arsenal setup but was never really able to nail down a first-team place and was sold to Werder Bremen in 2016.

Now a star at Bayern Munich, Gnabry hit 17 goals in all competitions last season and boasts a fine record of 63 goals in 171 games for Bayern.

The problem has been that Gnabry is out of contract next summer, leaving Bayern to consider whether to sell now or risk losing him for nothing.

Arsenal have been looking into an emotional return for Gnabry but that now looks to be unlikely.

German magazine Kicker report that Gnabry is moving closer to a new deal.

Gnabry is understood to be happy with Bayern’s current offer and there is now optimism that a deal will be signed off very soon.

The winger turns 27 today and looks ready to commit his future to Bayern in another blow for Arsenal.

With Raphinha and Gnabry seemingly not heading to Arsenal, Edu and Mikel Arteta will have to come up with some other targets this summer.
