Duncan Castles has claimed on the Transfer Window Podcast that Arsenal’s second offer for Ben White has been rejected.
What’s the story?
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Arsenal’s second bid for the former Leeds United loanee is worth £45 million plus £5 million in add-ons.
The Gunners are willing to pay £12 million now, and the rest of the £45 million over the course of the defender’s contract.
The Guardian has claimed that Arsenal’s initial offer of £40 million for the 23-year-old was turned down.
Second Arsenal bid rejected
Castles said on the Transfer Window Podcast: “They only want to pay a relatively small proportion of that fee in the first summer.
“My understanding is that they have offered a £12 million immediate payment this summer, with the rest of the £45 million being staged over the course of White’s contract.
“Again, my understanding is that Brighton have rejected that offer. They feel that it is insufficient for a player of White’s quality and status.”

What now for Arsenal?
Castles has added on the Transfer Window Podcast that Arsenal are planning an internal meeting today to discuss Brighton’s response.
It is clear that the Gunners are keen on the 23-year-old, who can also play as a midfielder or as a right-back.
It is very likely that the North London club will go back to Brighton with a new offer.
White is with England at the ongoing Euro 2020 finals, and it is clear that he is good enough for clubs such as Arsenal.
White is only 23, and he has the potential to become a world-class defender in the coming years.
