Roma boss Jose Mourinho seems to be starting his destruction early having sent former Arsenal target Amadou Diawara to the stands this weekend.

Roma were embarrassed in Norway on Thursday night, losing 6-1 away at Bodo/Glimt in the Europa Conference League.

Mourinho slated his side, which was largely made up of fringe players rather than his star men.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss responded strongly for Sunday’s 0-0 draw against Napoli, leaving five players in the stands.

Midfielder Diawara, touted for a move to Arsenal over the summer, was one of them.

Defenders Bryan Reynolds and Marash Kumbulla have been banished too, alongside midfielder Gonzalo Villar and striker Borja Mayoral.

Diawara miles away from Arsenal now

Roma were determined to sign Granit Xhaka from Arsenal this past summer, but couldn’t meet the asking price.

Corriere dello Sport reported in May that Diawara had been offered to Arsenal to bring the price tag down.

Il Romanista added in July that Roma offered Diawara to Arsenal for just £10million.

The hope was that Arsenal still wanted Diawara. Edu wanted him as a backup target to Thomas Partey according to Football.London.

Arsenal didn’t bite, instead signing Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht to bolster their midfield.

Once tipped for a huge future, Diawara is nowhere near Arsenal now and quite simply has to leave Roma having been exiled by Mourinho.
