The Gunners summer signing made his first start for Unai Emery’s side last night.

Arsenal defender Rob Holding has spoken highly of teammate Kieran Tierney, describing his debut performance for the Gunners as “brilliant” and also praising his personality off the pitch (Sky Sports News).
After a lengthy injury lay-off, the £25million summer signing from Celtic (Sky Sports News) finally made his first start for Unai Emery’s side in their 5-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium in the League Cup.
Tierney put in a solid display, repeatedly marauding forward as the hosts pinned Forest back en route to an emphatic win against the East Midlands side, and his back-line colleague couldn’t sing the 22-year-old’s praises highly enough.
“I think he was brilliant, I loved having him on the left side of me,” Holding is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying. “He was solid and for his first game back from a double hernia operation you can’t ask for any more than that.

“He’s good (in the dressing room), a good Scottish lad who brings a bit of banter to the team. He and I are getting on really well, you couldn’t ask for a better way for him to settle in.”
The game against Forest was also significant for Holding, who managed the full 90 minutes at the Emirates having previously not made a first-team appearance since rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee at Manchester United in December.
Holding signed for Arsenal in July 2016 for a fee of around £2million – now valued at £10.8million by Transfermarkt – and he has made 61 senior appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, according to the stats website.
