Arsenal youngster Reuell Walters has been spotted in first-team training ahead of their clash against Leeds United on Saturday.

The 18-year-old, who made ‘tremendous progress’ with the Gunners in his first full season, according to youth team expert Jeorge Bird is one of the most highly-rated talents in the academy.

Now, it seems Mikel Arteta has deemed Reuell Walters ready to train with the Arsenal senior side, as he was pictured alongside the first-team players in preparation for the contest against Leeds United.

The teenager is a right-back by trade, branded as the ‘dream Ben White heir’ by Football Fan Cast renowned for being a reliable defender and a handful going forward.

After signing his first professional contract with Mikel Arteta’s side in February, Jack Wilshere expressed his excitement at the announcement, commenting on Instagram saying, “Congrats mate, keep working hard.”

Highly-rated in the Gunners setup

Clearly, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta rates Reuell Walters highly, as he called up him to train alongside the first-team ahead of their upcoming battle against Leeds.

If Manchester City reduce the gap between both sides having played the same number of games to five points after a win against Liverpool, the pressure will be on the league leaders to beat Javi Gracia’s side.

As a result, it is telling that Walters has been entrusted in training before such a high-stakes game.

Considering Takehiro Tomiyasu is not the best in terms of the attacking side of the game and despite Ben White’s form, he too has limitations going forward, perhaps the young buck could become his club’s main man to occupy the position over time.
