Reuell Walters trained with Arsenal on Tuesday as the Gunners prepare to face Brighton and Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup.

Premier League football takes a back seat tonight as Arsenal focus on cup football.

Brighton head to the Emirates Stadium in fine form having beaten Chelsea and Wolves in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta will surely be looking to tinker with his team tonight and that may mean chances for some young players.

Reuell Walters trained with Arsenal

Arsenal held their final training session before tonight’s game on Tuesday and a host of young talents were involved.

Jeorge Bird reports that Reuell Walters, Taylor Foran, Jack Henry-Francis and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji were all involved with the senior squad.

Walters, 17, has played five times in Premier League 2 this season as well as picking up two EFL Trophy appearances.

The teenager has been described as an ‘attacking’ right back by Arsenal’s official website, with a suggestion that he can also play on the right of a back three.

That write-up also highlights how Walters was the only non-first-team player included in the summer tour of the United States.

This all points to how highly Mikel Arteta rates Walters and there may be a first-team opportunity tonight.

We would imagine that Walters could be on the bench against Brighton tonight but a start would be a huge moment for the youngster.

Walters was part of the Tottenham academy in his earlier days but joined Arsenal back in 2020 having taken a break from football.

To step right back into a Premier League system and now potentially be on the verge of featuring in the Arsenal first team is extraordinary stuff and he will be hoping to have done enough in training yesterday to tempt Arteta.
