Arsenal are interested in signing Ajax defender Jorrel Hato after he admitted wanting to follow in the footsteps of Jurrien Timber.
Arsenal continue to look at potential defensive signings with the January window just days away.
Both Jurrien Timber and Takehiro Tomiyasu are out with injuries right now in major blows for Mikel Arteta.
Timber and Tomiyasu offer major versatility across the back four and losing them impact Arteta’s tactical flexibility.
Arsenal will be looking at potential defensive signings for January and another Ajax talent is wanted just months after Timber’s move…
Arsenal interested in Ajax defender Jorrel Hato
The Athletic now report that Arsenal are keen on Ajax teenager Jorrel Hate.
It’s claimed that Arsenal feel Ajax’s approach to football is similar to the style under Arteta.
That was a factor in terms of Timber’s summer move and the way he quickly adjusted to life at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal could subsequently look to land other Ajax talents moving forward and Hato is one player on their radar.
Ajax would likely command a hefty fee for Hato though and it’s noted that Arsenal may go more a more experienced option in the short term.

Hato has emerged in the Ajax ranks and already has 40 first-team appearances to his name at the age of just 17.
Hato even captained Ajax in November, becoming the club’s youngest-ever skipper in the process, and he has also picked up a first senior cap for the Netherlands.
The sky seems to be the limit for Hato, who can play at left back or centre back and seems to have the versatility Arteta seeks at the back.
Another interesting note is that Hato marvelled at Timber’s Arsenal move back in November.
Hato called the transfer ‘wonderful’ and admitted that it is his dream to make a similar transfer, leaving Arsenal fans to believe that he wanted a move to North London.
Arsenal now appear to be keen and Hato may well be given the chance to join forces with Timber once again having been together at Ajax.
