Arsenal are one of a number of Premier League clubs reportedly looking to sign Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips this summer. A player that David Seaman has said he hopes never leaves the Yorkshire club.
Phillips, 25, has endured a difficult season in which a hamstring issue has kept him sidelined since early December. Perhaps, the incessant way Leeds play and the fact he played at Euro 2020 has not helped the midfielder.
90Min report that Arsenal – along with Newcastle, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United – want to sign Phillips in the summer. The Mirror report that a fee of £60million will be enough to tempt Leeds into a sale.
Phillips has spent his entire career at Leeds, making his debut in 2015. With 226 appearances for his boyhood club under his belt, he is a fan favourite. But a summer of change could be on the horizon, at Elland Road.
Speaking after he starred at Euro 2020, Seaman said he hopes Phillips remains at Leeds for the entirety of his career. Arsenal legend Seaman, of course, is a boyhood Leeds fan – starting his career at Elland Road.
“He’s quality. He’s one of those players that makes it look so easy, I just really enjoy watching him and then stepping it up onto the England stage has been amazing to see, so long may he stay at Leeds,” Seaman said.
Seaman on Phillips: Could a move to Arsenal tempt Leeds star?
Phillips has given his entire life to Leeds. A player that was pivotal in returning Leeds to the Premier League, and keeping them there since. Now 25, it is an intriguing summer for the England star – does he stay, or go?
Does Phillips have ambitions to play in the Champions League – or does he want to stay at Leeds and become one of the all-time greats? Leeds look unlikely to break into European football in the next few years.
A move to Arsenal, where even a place in the top four this season looks promising, will be tempting. A reunion with Ben White, too – and to team up with England stars White, Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka and more.
Arsenal could be tempting, if they finish in the Champions League places, for Leeds star Phillips this summer.
