Arsenal and Everton are interested in signing Abdoulaye Doucoure from Watford in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror.

It has been reported that Everton had two bids for Doucoure turned down by Watford last summer and will make a move again this time around.

Arsenal also admire the Frenchman, but for the Gunners to sign the 27-year-old, they will need to sell Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira, according to the report.

Watford will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League, and the Hornets may have to sell their best players in the summer transfer window.

Stats

According to WhoScored, Doucoure made 36 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Watford this past season, scoring four goals and providing two assists in the process.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the French midfielder made 34 starts and one substitute appearance in the league for the Hornets, scoring five goals and providing six assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

Rated highly

Doucoure has been at Watford since 2016, and the Frenchman has proved that he can hold his own in the middle of the park.

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell raved about the midfielder on AFTV in November 2019, and said: “I think he’s been wasted there. He’s got the size, he’s got the power and he’s got the running power. I’d have him breaking stuff up in front of the back four.”
