Arsenal have maintained their interest in Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney and could make a move for the star this summer, according to a report from the Mirror.

Tierney has fast become one of the hottest young properties in British football since bursting onto the first-team scene at Parkhead at the start of last season.

In the intervening period, the 19-year-old has racked up 63 appearances for the Bhoys in all competitions and displayed some form which has top clubs from around Europe watching closely.

Arsenal’s interest in the young star was first reported at the end of last season, and the Mirror claims that Celtic have braced themselves for a firm offer from the Gunners this summer.

Hoops fans will obviously not want to lose Tierney, but he is likely to fetch a considerable fee, particularly in the context of Scottish football, and there may yet be a bright side.

Celtic are reported to be considering a move for Arsenal’s England Under-19s forward Chris Willock, and interest in Tierney from the Emirates gives the Bhoys a good chance to seal a deal for the teenager.

The winger already has two senior Gunners appearances under his belt, and Brendan Rodgers is thought to be keen to bring him to Parkhead as a replacement for Patrick Roberts, whose long-term loan expires at the end of the current campaign.

With Celtic likely to lose Tierney if any serious interest comes in, they should be aiming to strike a deal which includes a move north of the border for Willock as they begin to plan ahead for next season.
