If rumours are to be believed, Arsenal want to sign Nabil Fekir.
According to Estadio Deportivo, he’s on the Gunners’ wishlist this summer.
Arsenal are more than likely going to try and sign Martin Odegaard on a permanent basis but, as a plan-b option, Fekir certainly makes sense.
He failed a medical with Liverpool three years ago but 60 games over the last two seasons with Real Betis indicate that he has conquered any injury problem which scuppered his move to Anfield.
A lot of Arsenal fans might be a little familiar with the former Lyon ace, but one man very familiar with the Frenchman is Malcom.
The Brazilian winger, who was also linked to the Emirates Stadium once upon a time, was, like Fekir, an exciting Ligue 1 starlet a few years ago following a stint with Bordeaux, with both sharing a division.
And here’s what Malcom told Telefoot about Fekir ahead of a Champions League meeting in 2019: “Fekir is a big player, and when I was in France, he scored incredible goals. It will be more difficult with him [in the Lyon team].”
As mentioned, Fekir won’t be Arsenal’s primary target as far as playmaker goes.
But as Malcom said, he is certainly a talented player and Mikel Arteta and Edu could do a lot worse.
