Liverpool and Chelsea have been linked with Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Arsenal have opened talks with midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain over a new contract, according to The Sun.
It has been reported that the Gunners want to hand the England international a new deal in order to fend off interest from Liverpool and Chelsea.

According to the report, initial talks were held last week. The 23-year-old, who can operate as a winger or as a central midfielder, earns £70,000 a week at the moment, claims The Sun, and has one more year left on his current contract.
The Sun has reported that Oxlade-Chamberlain’s potential new contract could see him earn over £100,000 per week as salary.
Arsenal’s (reported) willingness to hand the midfielder a new deal will come as a blow to Liverpool. The Independent recently reported of the Reds’ interest in signing the 23-year-old.
It does make sense for the North London outfit not to sell Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool or Chelsea. After all, the Reds and the Blues are Arsenal’s direct rivals in the Premier League.
