Should Tottenham Hotspur should make a move for Real Madrid star Isco in the summer transfer window?

Well-known Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has claimed on Skysports.com that Arsenal are not interested in signing Isco from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Balague has claimed that the Gunners have never been interested in the 24-year-old attacking midfielder.

“My understanding is that Arsenal do not want Isco,” Balague wrote on Skysports.com in response to a question whether the Madrid attacker is an ideal replacement for Mesut Ozil at Arsenal and the likelihood of a move happening. “They didn’t want him before and they don’t want him now.”

Arsenal do have enough attack-minded midfielders in the squad, with Mesut Ozil one of the best in the world.

If the Germany international remains at the Emirates Stadium next season, then the Gunners would not have any need to make a move for Isco in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham have also been linked with the two-time Champions League winner, with The Mirror reporting last month that the North London are set to make a move for him in the summer.

Spurs do have a strong midfield, with Christian Eriksen one of the most creative players in Europe, but signing Isco would make the North London outfit a much better team and added depth to their squad.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are likely to feature in the Champions League next season, and someone of Isco’s experience, stature and quality is only going to enhance their chances of progressing to the knockout stages.

Arsenal may not end up in the top four of the Premier League this season, and Spurs could further dent their long-term ambitions and punish their North London rivals by signing Isco and enhancing their own quality.
