Arsenal could wind up signing Cengiz Under this summer.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Arsenal could get the Turkey international and £12 million in a player-plus-cash deal for Granit Xhaka.

Xhaka is heavily linked with a move to Roma and this is one of the ways in which the Italian side are planning to lower the fee.

Under had a season-long loan at Leicester City for the 2020-21 campaign but it didn’t go well.

The 23-year-old started just the one Premier League game, playing 273 minutes overall.

And although injury played a part in that, so did poor form because he still made the bench on 25 occasions.

Complete player?

Still, this is a footballer with a hell of a lot of talent.

In fact, Roma legend Francesco Totti once labelled him a ‘complete player‘.

He said: “He has a strong physique with an indispensable and crafty character, and he is Turkish. Under is a complete football player. He will be much stronger if he can understand just a few things.”

Under, who earns £94,000 per week with the Foxes, is clearly still a wee bit raw.

But Arteta is one of the most exciting young coaches around, despite a poor season for Arsenal overall last time around.

And if the Spaniard feels he can get the best out of him then maybe, just maybe, Arteta can prove Totti right more than Rodgers was able to.
